Forest Bathing

Reconnect with Nature

Escape the demands of modern life and discover a moment of true tranquillity with Forest Bathing - our all-new rejuvenating experience launching this summer.

Inspired by the ancient Japanese art of Shinrin-yoku, our sessions are thoughtfully designed to help you slow down, breathe deeply, and immerse yourself in nature’s restorative embrace - all at your own pace.

Your private two-hour guided experience unfolds along the secluded banks of our river garden, where the gentle murmur of the water, the scent of wild herbs, and the canopy of ancient trees create a sanctuary just for you. Every detail - from the route we take through our woodland to the moments of mindful stillness - is shaped around your individual needs, helping you switch off, ground yourself, and reconnect with the natural world.

Led by one of our skilled therapists, this is far more than a walk in the woods; it’s a bespoke ritual to ease overwhelm, soothe anxiety, and restore balance. For those seeking a deeper connection, we also offer extended sessions on request - complete with over-fire dining in a secret garden setting, where you’ll enjoy dishes infused with herbs and botanicals foraged from the estate.

Available on Mondays and Thursdays.

What is forest bathing?

Forest bathing is the practice of mindfully immersing yourself in a natural woodland environment to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

It’s not about hiking, exercising, or learning about plants. Instead, it’s about slowing down, engaging your senses, and being fully present in the moment. You might notice the rustle of leaves, the scent of pine, the feeling of moss underfoot, or the play of light through the trees.

The benefits of forest bathing

  • Reduces Stress and Anxiety: Immersing oneself in forest environments lowers cortisol levels, promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety.
  • Enhances Cognitive Function: Exposure to nature improves attention spans and cognitive performance, supporting mental clarity.
  • Supports Neurodiverse Individuals: Nature’s calming effects can be particularly beneficial for neurodiverse individuals, aiding in sensory regulation and emotional balance.
  • Boosts Immune System: Phytoncides released by trees increase natural killer (NK) cell activity, enhancing the body’s ability to combat infections and potentially reducing cancer risk.
  • Lowers Blood Pressure: Regular forest bathing sessions contribute to decreased blood pressure, supporting cardiovascular health.
  • Improves Gut Microbiome: Contact with diverse natural microbes during forest bathing can positively influence gut health, promoting a balanced microbiome.
  • Fosters Social Connection: Engaging in nature-based activities can reduce feelings of isolation, encouraging social interactions and community bonding.
